TLSterrestrial
TLSterrestrial is a conceptual extension of Transport Layer Security (TLS) designed to provide encrypted and authenticated communications over terrestrial networks, including wired LANs, mobile broadband, and radio access environments. It aims to address the challenges of land-based networks where endpoints may be resource-constrained, connectivity can be intermittent, and networks are heterogeneous. The goal is to preserve TLS-style security guarantees while improving performance and reliability in non-ideal terrestrial conditions.
The design of TLSterrestrial emphasizes compatibility with existing TLS APIs while introducing optimizations for terrestrial conditions.
Status and adoption of TLSterrestrial are informal and largely experimental. The term has appeared in academic
TLSterrestrial is generally viewed as a complementary approach to TLS for non-HTTP protocols on terrestrial networks,
