The insulation of these conductors is provided by the surrounding air for overhead lines, while underground or underwater cables are typically insulated with specialized dielectric materials. The efficiency of power transmission is significantly influenced by the resistance of the conductors, with efforts made to minimize energy loss during transport through factors like conductor size and material selection.
