Strikeattack

Strikeattack is a term used to describe a dual-action offensive technique that combines an initiating strike with a subsequent attack, designed to disrupt an opponent’s defense and create offensive momentum. It can refer to a physical technique in martial arts or to a planning concept in combat-oriented games and simulations.

In martial arts contexts, a strikeattack denotes a rapid sequence where a primary strike closes distance or provokes a reaction, followed by a second strike or another technique. The effectiveness depends on timing, angle, and distance management. Properly executed, it can overwhelm a defender or exploit a temporary opening; poorly executed, it can telegraph intent, miss, or leave the attacker exposed to counters.

In gaming and simulation, strikeattack is commonly implemented as a two-part move or a combo input: a first strike that leads into a second attack with different effects, damage, or stamina cost. Designers use it to reward timing and skill, and to create dynamic combat rhythms. The mechanic may include constraints such as cooldowns, stamina depletion, or animation lock to balance power.

Variants include strike-entry, follow-up strike, and finisher. The concept overlaps with broader ideas such as combos, chains, and feints, and may be adapted to different combat systems, from realistic martial arts sims to arcade-style fighters and action RPGs.
