Stimulusbased
Stimulusbased denotes an approach in which external stimuli are the principal driver of observed outcomes. In practice, the term is used across psychology, neuroscience, education, and human-computer interaction to contrast with internally driven or stimulus-independent processes. When used in experimental design, stimulusbased paradigms present carefully controlled stimuli to participants and measure responses such as reaction times, choices, or neural activity. The stimuli can be sensory (visual, auditory, tactile) or contextual, and control conditions aim to isolate the effect of specific stimulus properties. In literature, it is sometimes written as stimulus-based rather than as a single word.
Applications of stimulusbased methods include perceptual experiments where detectability, discrimination, or identification thresholds are estimated from
Methodological considerations for stimulusbased work include ensuring stimulus validity and reliability, controlling for fatigue and practice
