Sterrhinae

Sterrhinae is a subfamily of moths in the family Geometridae, commonly known as geometer moths. It is a large and diverse group with a worldwide distribution, especially rich in temperate regions and many tropical habitats. The subfamily includes several tribes, among them Scopulini, which contains the well-known genus Scopula. Morphologically, Sterrhinae moths are typically small to medium-sized, with slender wings held flat when at rest. The forewings often have a pale ground color with fine, wavy crosslines and relatively subdued markings, providing camouflage against bark and lichens. Wing venation and genitalia characteristics are used to diagnose taxa within the subfamily.

Larvae (caterpillars) of Sterrhinae are usually herbivorous and feed on a range of herbaceous plants and low
