Staadiumitest is a hypothetical statistical test designed to detect stadium-shaped patterns in multivariate data. The term refers to a family of shape-based hypothesis tests that evaluate whether a dataset's distribution approximates a stadium geometry—a compact core with extended, relatively uniform tails along principal directions.

Methodology centers on defining a stadium-shaped reference region in the feature space, estimating a shape parameter that controls the stadium's proportions, and measuring the discrepancy between the observed data distribution and the reference. A resampling strategy, typically permutation or bootstrap, is used to derive p-values under the null hypothesis of similarity to the stadium shape. The test statistic often combines information about central density and tail dispersion to capture deviations in both core and periphery.

Data preparation includes normalization and, in high dimensions, projection onto a suitable subspace to mitigate the curse of dimensionality. The approach aims to be sensitive to elongated or flattened clustering patterns that are not well captured by standard multivariate tests or isotropic models.

There is no widely adopted software implementation; researchers may report a custom prototype alongside simulation studies to illustrate performance under various alternatives.

Limitations include dependence on the chosen stadium parameterization, potential loss of power against other alternatives, and computational demands in higher dimensions.
