Senetendinopatier

Senetendinopatier refers to a group of conditions characterized by inflammation or degeneration of the tendons. Tendons are tough, fibrous cords of connective tissue that connect muscles to bones, enabling movement. When these structures become overloaded, injured, or subjected to repetitive stress, they can develop senetendinopatier.

The most common cause of senetendinopatier is overuse. This can occur in athletes due to intense training or improper technique, but also in individuals whose jobs or daily activities involve repetitive motions. Aging can also play a role, as tendons naturally lose some of their elasticity and strength over time, making them more susceptible to injury. Other contributing factors can include poor biomechanics, inadequate flexibility, and insufficient warm-up before physical activity.

Symptoms typically include pain, tenderness, and stiffness in the affected area. The pain may worsen with activity and improve with rest. Swelling and a grating sensation can also be present. The location of the senetendinopati depends on which tendon is affected, with common sites including the shoulder (rotator cuff tendons), elbow (tennis elbow and golfer's elbow), wrist, hip, knee (patellar tendon), and ankle (Achilles tendon).

Diagnosis usually involves a physical examination and review of the patient's medical history and symptoms. Imaging tests such as ultrasound or MRI may be used to confirm the diagnosis and assess the extent of damage. Treatment aims to reduce pain and inflammation and promote healing. This often involves rest, ice, pain medication, physical therapy to strengthen and stretch the surrounding muscles, and sometimes corticosteroid injections. In severe or chronic cases, surgery may be considered. Prevention strategies focus on proper training techniques, gradual increases in activity, regular stretching and strengthening exercises, and adequate rest.
