Rekstrarteymi

Rekstrarteymi is an Icelandic term referring to an operations team within an organization. The team is responsible for the day-to-day execution of the business, translating strategic plans into operational activity. The term is commonly used in both private companies and public-sector bodies in Iceland, and is often equivalent to what is called an "operations team" or "operations management" unit in English.

The rekstrarteymi typically oversees service delivery or production, logistics and supply chain, facilities management, information technology operations, and the execution of budgets and cost controls. It focuses on ensuring uptime, reliability, efficiency, quality, safety, and regulatory compliance. The team monitors performance through key performance indicators, conducts capacity and demand planning, and drives process improvement initiatives such as lean or Six Sigma where applicable. It also manages risk, incident response, and business continuity planning.

It is usually cross-functional, including an operations manager or team lead, and specialists such as logistics coordinator, facilities supervisor, IT operations liaison, procurement coordinator, and financial controller. In larger organizations, the rekstrarteymi reports to an operations director or the chief operating officer.

The rekstrarteymi implements strategic objectives at the operational level and coordinates with other functions, such as product development, sales, and governance, to ensure alignment and reliable execution.

The concept is common in Icelandic business language and is adaptable to different sectors, including manufacturing, services, and public administration.
