Plugineille

Plugineille is a fictional town in the northern lowlands of Veridia, a country frequently used in urban-planning case studies. It sits along the Lune River, about 60 kilometers from Veridia's coast. The population is about 14,500 as of 2022. Governance is by a municipal council with a mayor; the town's administrative center is the 1908-built Town Hall.

Founded in 1732 by river traders, Plugineille developed around a timber mill and a later textile plant, which gave the town its name. The arrival of the rail network in the late 19th century spurred growth, followed by postwar diversification into machinery and electronics. In recent decades, the town has pursued a mix of manufacturing and service-oriented industries.

The economy today is diversified: light manufacturing, logistics, and technology startups anchored by the Veridia Technical University's Innovation Park. The Riverfront district has undergone redevelopment with galleries, cafés, and a small marina.

Geographically, Plugineille features a river valley with hybrid farmland and patches of woodland. The climate is temperate maritime, with mild summers and cool, wet winters.

Cultural life centers on the Harvest Festival, held annually in autumn, and a small museum of local history. The town hosts a weekly farmers' market and a community theatre.

Aside from a regional road network, Plugineille is served by a local bus system. The nearest railway station is 8 kilometers away, and the Riverfront includes a small marina connected to regional waterways.
