Roles may be less formal, and leadership focuses on facilitation, coaching, and alignment with shared goals rather than command and control. The approach can foster innovation and adaptability, reduce overhead, and enhance responsiveness. However, challenges include potential role ambiguity, conflicts over authorities, workload imbalances, and coordination difficulties in larger or more complex operations. The absence of traditional supervisors can also demand stronger management capabilities and a mature organizational culture.

Implementation considerations include organizational size, strategy, and culture.
