Watering should be tailored to species and container size, with attention to drainage and water quality; overwatering is a common problem. Soil or potting mixes should be well draining and appropriate to the plant, and containers need drainage holes and proper size to prevent root crowding. Fertilization is used to meet seasonal nutrient demands, usually in moderate amounts.
