Paraplyorganisation, or umbrella organization, is a central body that coordinates a network of independent member organizations with related aims. It typically acts as a platform for collective advocacy, policy development, information sharing, and the pooling of resources and services. Umbrella organizations are common in civil society, trade and labor, professional associations, and public-interest networks.

Functions include coordinating campaigns, representing the sector to governments, funders and media, producing policy papers or position statements, organizing conferences, and managing shared services such as training, accreditation, communications, or grant administration. The umbrella often sets overarching strategic priorities while preserving the formal autonomy of its members.

Structure and governance vary, but most umbrella bodies are membership organizations with legal status.
