Pallvaror

Pallvaror is a term used in the Swedish logistics and warehousing sector to describe goods that are transported and stored on pallets. The practice unitizes items into pallet-sized loads to facilitate handling and transport.

The word is a compound of pall (pallet) and varor (goods). While not a formal term in all dictionaries, it is widely used in warehouses, suppliers, and transport firms in the Nordic region to describe palletized products.

Palletized goods are typically packaged to fit pallet dimensions, often using shrink wrap or banding to secure items. Common pallet standards include European pallets (EUR/EPAL) sized 1200 x 800 mm, though other sizes exist. Unitization improves stability and allows automation and forklifts to move loads.

In warehouses, pallvaror are stacked on pallets on racking or floor storage and moved with pallet jacks or forklifts. Barcodes, labels, or RFID tags identify the contents and destination. Palletized goods support efficient loading, unloading, and inventory control, enabling first-in-first-out and better space utilization.

Best practices include checking pallet condition, ensuring even load distribution, avoiding overhang, and adhering to maximum load per pallet and stacking height guidelines. Plastic and wood pallets are common, with plastics offering durability and hygiene advantages.
