Monisuoritinympäristö

Monisuoritinympäristö, also known as a multiprocessing environment, refers to a computer system equipped with more than one central processing unit (CPU). These CPUs can operate independently or in parallel, allowing the system to execute multiple tasks or threads simultaneously. This parallel processing capability significantly enhances the computational power and performance of the system, making it suitable for demanding applications such as scientific simulations, complex data analysis, and high-performance computing.

There are various architectures for monisuoritinympäristö. Symmetric multiprocessing (SMP) systems feature multiple identical processors that share access to a common memory and I/O system.
