Manöveristä is a Finnish term derived from the Swedish and French word "manöver," meaning an organized set of movements executed to achieve a specific objective. In its broadest sense, a maneuver refers to a planned and coordinated action designed to change the position, orientation, or state of an object or system. The concept is employed across various fields, including military, aviation, maritime, robotics, and competitive sports.

In military contexts, maneuvers encompass strategies such as feints, flanks, convergence, and withdrawal, each structured to outmaneuver an opponent on the battlefield. Tactical exercises often simulate battlefield maneuvers to evaluate unit coordination, reaction times, and decision-making under pressure. Air force training uses air maneuvers like circle, barrel rolls, and snap turns to keep pilots proficient in aircraft control and evasive actions. Naval maneuvers include docking procedures, collision avoidance drills, and tactical formations for fleet coordination.
