MIDIkontroller

MIDIkontroller is a term often used in German-speaking countries to refer to a MIDI controller. A MIDI controller is a hardware or software device used to send MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) data to other devices, such as synthesizers, samplers, or computers. This data typically represents musical notes, pitch bends, volume changes, and other performance-related information. Unlike instruments that produce sound on their own, MIDI controllers do not generate audio. Instead, they act as an interface, translating user input into a digital language that other sound-producing devices can understand and interpret.

Common types of MIDIkontrollers include keyboards, pad controllers, and guitar-like controllers. MIDI keyboards resemble traditional pianos but send MIDI signals instead of audio. Pad controllers feature a grid of pressure-sensitive pads that can be used to trigger drum sounds, samples, or other musical events. Other specialized controllers are designed to mimic the playability of traditional instruments like guitars or wind instruments, but with MIDI output.
