Loftings
Loftings refers to the practice of creating and transferring hull lines and other large-scale shapes from scaled plans to full-size drawings or templates. It is most closely associated with shipbuilding and boat design, where a dedicated space called the loft is used to lay out fair lines, stations, and other curves before cutting frame timbers or laying planks. While naval construction is the primary context, lofting concepts appear in other crafts that require accurate full-size patterns.
