Ledsbandet

Ledsbandet refers to flexible LED strip lighting, a linear array of light-emitting diodes arranged on a flexible printed circuit board. The name is derived from the Swedish words led (LED) and band (strip). The format is used for decorative as well as functional lighting in homes, offices, retail environments and event settings.

Construction and variants: A typical led strip consists of LED chips mounted along a flexible substrate, with a current-limiting resistor and a coating of silicone or epoxy for protection. Densities commonly range from 30 to 60 LEDs per meter; supply voltages are often 12 or 24 volts, while some variants use 5 volts. Strips may be monochrome, RGB or addressable, enabling individual LED control.

Applications: Led strips are used for accent lighting, under-cabinet illumination, cove lighting, backlighting for signs and displays, and mood or stage lighting. They can be integrated with dimmers, controllers, or smart-home systems, and are available in waterproof versions for outdoor or wet environments.

Installation and safety: Installation usually requires a compatible power supply and, for outdoor or damp locations, appropriate waterproofing. Strips are often cut at marked intervals and connected with clip-on connectors. Heat management and proper routing are important to preserve longevity and color consistency.

History: LED strip technology emerged in the early 2000s alongside advances in flexible printed circuit boards and LED packaging. Its popularity grew through the 2010s as users sought compact, energy-efficient lighting with flexible form factors for architectural and consumer applications.
