Installation

Installation is the process of placing and configuring software, hardware, or equipment so that it can operate as intended. If errors occur, use uninstall tools and roll back before retrying.

Hardware installation entails planning, safety, and physical setup: assess site conditions, ensure power supply, grounding, and cooling; mount or rack components; connect cables and peripherals; perform firmware updates and driver installations; configure basic settings and network connections; then test for correct operation and interoperability.

Verification and ongoing maintenance ensure that the installation meets requirements. This includes functional tests, performance checks, and security validation. Documentation should capture versions, configurations, and procedures. Ongoing maintenance involves applying updates, monitoring performance, and planning upgrades or decommissioning. A change-management process and rollback plan help minimize risk if problems arise.
