Kinesthesia, sometimes called the sense of movement, allows a person to detect limb movement, muscle length, joint angle, and movement force without relying on vision. This sense depends on proprioceptors in muscles, tendons, and joints, as well as input from the vestibular system, and is integrated by neural pathways in the brain, including the cerebellum and somatosensory cortex. Together, these mechanisms support motor control, coordination, and motor learning.
