Joro
Joro, scientifically known as Trichonephila clavata, is a species of large, orb-weaving spider originating from East Asia. It is characterized by its distinctive yellow and black coloration, with males being significantly smaller than females. Females can reach a body length of up to 2.5 centimeters, with leg spans extending to 10 centimeters or more. The spider is well-known for its impressive webs, which can be quite large and strong, often shimmering with a golden hue due to silk proteins.
Joro spiders are generally harmless to humans, possessing venom primarily used to subdue their insect prey.
In recent years, Joro spiders have been observed establishing populations in North America, particularly in the
