Homseks

Homseks is a shorthand term for homoseksual; in some languages it refers to a person who is attracted to people of the same sex. It describes sexual orientation, a lasting pattern of romantic and sexual attraction. People who are attracted to people of the same sex may identify as gay or lesbian, or use other labels such as bisexual, pansexual, or queer.

The concept is distinct from sexual behavior and identity, though they often overlap. Scientists describe sexuality as a complex interplay of biological, psychological, and social factors; it is not a choice nor a mental illness. In the past, homosexuality was pathologized in some medical frameworks, but modern psychiatry and medicine view it as a normal variation of human sexuality.

Mental health outcomes improve with social support, legal protections, and access to community resources. Respect for self-identification and privacy remains central to respectful discourse.
