Hjärtkärlhändelser, often referred to as cardiovascular events, encompass a range of medical occurrences that affect the heart and blood vessels. These events can range from relatively mild to life-threatening and are frequently associated with conditions like atherosclerosis, hypertension, and dyslipidemia.

Common examples of hjärtkärlhändelser include myocardial infarction (heart attack), stroke, and transient ischemic attacks (TIAs). A heart attack occurs when blood flow to a part of the heart muscle is severely reduced or blocked, leading to tissue damage. A stroke happens when blood supply to the brain is interrupted, either by a blockage or bleeding, causing brain cells to die.
