A hjärtkärlhändelse, or cardiovascular event, refers to a sudden occurrence related to the heart or blood vessels. These events can range in severity and impact. Common examples include a heart attack (myocardial infarction), where blood flow to a part of the heart muscle is severely reduced or blocked, and a stroke (cerebrovascular accident), where blood supply to the brain is interrupted. Other hjärtkärlhändelser can include angina pectoris, which is chest pain caused by reduced blood flow to the heart, and transient ischemic attacks (TIAs), often called mini-strokes, which are temporary disruptions of blood flow to the brain.
