Hiraka
Hiraka (平川) was a town located in Nishivard and Higashidōri Districts, Iwate Prefecture, Japan. Prior to its merger in 2005, the municipality covered an area of approximately 95 square kilometers and had an estimated population of about 3,600 residents, giving it a low population density typical of rural municipalities in northern Japan. The town’s geography is dominated by the Ou Mountain Range, with dense forests, alpine meadows, and a number of small streams and rivers. The climate is humid continental, characterized by cold, snowy winters and mild, humid summers, making the area popular for winter sports and hiking during the warmer months.
