Handförhårdnad
Handförhårdnad, also known as callus formation on the hands, is a localized thickening of the epidermis. This protective response occurs when the skin is subjected to repeated friction or pressure. The stratum corneum, the outermost layer of the epidermis, proliferates in response to this mechanical stress, creating a tougher, more resilient surface.
The appearance of handförhårdnad can range from a smooth, slightly raised area to a rough, thickened patch.
While often considered a nuisance, handförhårdnad serves a protective function, preventing blisters and abrasions from forming
