GadgetKetten is a modular electronics ecosystem and brand that originated in Germany. Founded in 2014 by a cooperative of engineers and designers, it aims to let users assemble and reconfigure devices by linking standalone modules into a continuous 'chain.' The approach emphasizes upgradability, repairability, and a shared physical interface rather than monolithic products.

The core concept is a chain-like architecture in which modules snap together along a common mechanical and electrical interface. Each module provides a defined function, such as processing, sensing, or display, and communicates with neighboring modules through a standardized bus. The connectors use magnetic alignment and shielded pins to carry power and data.

Product lineup includes the GadgetKetten Core, a central processing hub; PowerNode for energy storage; SensorNode, DisplayTile, CameraTile, and AudioTile; and a range of extension modules for wireless communication, battery packs, and housings. Modules are designed for tool-free installation and can be rearranged to reconfigure capabilities.

Technology and standards: GadgetKetten promotes an open hardware ethos with a published interface specification known as LinkPort and LinkBus.
