Fingermounted

Fingermounted is a term used to describe devices or assemblies that are mounted on a finger or fingertips to extend capability while leaving the hand relatively free. Such devices can be standalone modules or integrated into gloves, rings, or harnesses. They typically employ compact form factors, low power electronics, and wireless communication to minimize bulk and maintain dexterity.

Common forms include fingermounted cameras for inspection or documentation, sensors such as tactile or temperature sensors, actuators or haptic feedback modules, and tools like miniature grippers or blades. In medical and surgical contexts, fingermounted devices can provide precision control of microinstruments, improve visualization, or deliver localized treatment. In robotics and virtual reality, these devices serve as input/output nodes, capturing finger motion or delivering tactile feedback to the user. In consumer electronics and filmmaking, fingermounted devices enable hands-free data capture or camera angles in constrained spaces.

Design considerations include weight distribution, ergonomics, power management, heat dissipation, sterilization (for clinical use), durability, and interoperability with other devices. Wireless interfaces (Bluetooth, Wi-Fi) or wired connections may be used.
