Fadenfärbung

Fadenfärbung, also known as thread dyeing or yarn dyeing, is a textile coloring technique where yarn or thread is dyed before it is woven or knitted into fabric. This process is distinct from piece dyeing, where the finished fabric is dyed. Fadenfärbung allows for intricate and precise color patterns, making it ideal for creating designs such as stripes, checks, and plaids.

The yarn is typically wound onto spools or cones and then immersed in dye baths. Multiple colors can be used to create complex patterns, with each color applied to specific sections of the yarn.
