Erütematoosluupus

Erütematoosluupus, commonly known as lupus erythematosus, is a chronic autoimmune disease. In this condition, the body's immune system mistakenly attacks its own healthy tissues and organs. This can affect various parts of the body, including the skin, joints, kidneys, brain, heart, and lungs.

The exact cause of lupus is not fully understood, but it is believed to involve a combination of genetic predisposition, environmental triggers, and hormonal factors. While it can affect anyone, women are more likely to develop lupus than men. The disease often manifests in young adulthood.

Symptoms of lupus can vary widely from person to person and can fluctuate in severity. Common signs include a characteristic butterfly-shaped rash across the face, fatigue, joint pain and swelling, fever, and sensitivity to sunlight. Other manifestations can include mouth sores, hair loss, and problems with blood circulation. In more severe cases, lupus can lead to organ damage.

Diagnosis of lupus typically involves a combination of medical history, physical examination, blood tests, and urine tests. There is no single cure for lupus, but treatment focuses on managing symptoms, reducing inflammation, and preventing organ damage. Medications such as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, antimalarials, corticosteroids, and immunosuppressants are often used. Lifestyle modifications, including sun protection and stress management, are also important components of care.
