E1systemer
E1systemer refers to systems and equipment that utilize the E1 digital transmission format, a standardized European method for carrying multiple voice and data channels over a single two-megabit link. An E1 link provides 2.048 Mbit/s capacity distributed across 32 timeslots of 64 kbit/s each. Timeslot 0 is used for framing, timeslot 16 is commonly used as the signaling channel for channel-associated signaling, while the remaining timeslots 1–15 and 17–31 carry bearer channels (B channels). E1 systems are part of traditional time-division multiplexing (TDM) transport networks and have historically served as the backbone for regional telephone circuits and data links in Europe and parts of Asia.
