DevOpsi

DevOpsi is an open-source software project and ecosystem designed to align software development and IT operations through automation, standardization of workflows, and enhanced observability. The project provides a set of tools and best practices intended to streamline build, test, deploy, and operate cycles across diverse infrastructure.

DevOpsi originated from a cross-community collaboration of developers, SREs, and platform engineers who began proposing integrated workflow tooling in the late 2010s. The first public release appeared in 2020, with subsequent major updates expanding workflow definitions, plugin ecosystems, and security features. The project is maintained by a global community and governed by a lightweight maintainers council.

Core components include a workflow engine that defines multi-stage pipelines, a plugin system for integrating CI providers, cloud and on-premises container platforms, and configuration management tools. It offers infrastructure-as-code support, secret management, and built-in observability through metrics, logs, and tracing. A command-line interface and a web-based dashboard provide access to design, run, monitor, and audit capabilities. The architecture is modular and pluggable, enabling users to extend functionality via adapters without core changes. Data formats are YAML or JSON for workflow definitions and configurations.

Adoption has grown among small teams and larger enterprises seeking to unify delivery pipelines with operations tasks. DevOpsi promotes practices associated with GitOps and continuous verification, aiming to reduce manual handoffs and improve reproducibility.
