Dautomatisation

Dautomatisation, commonly written d’automatisation in French, denotes the systematic use of technology to perform tasks and processes with minimal human intervention. It spans industrial automation, software automation, and the automation of organizational workflows. As a component of digital transformation, dautomatisation aims to increase efficiency, reliability, and scalability while reducing manual error and repetitive labor.

Core technologies include programmable logic controllers (PLC) and SCADA for physical processes, robotics and autonomous machines, and software-based automation such as robotic process automation (RPA), workflow and business process management (BPM) platforms, and integration tools that connect applications and data. More recently, artificial intelligence and machine learning are used to enhance decision-making, monitoring, and optimization within automated systems. Applications are widespread, notably in manufacturing and logistics, where automated lines and inventory systems operate continuously, as well as in energy, healthcare, finance, and IT operations where process automation reduces routine workloads and accelerates services.

Benefits of dautomatisation include higher throughput, improved accuracy, enhanced safety, and better data collection for performance analysis. Challenges include initial cost, system interoperability, security and privacy risks, and the need for new skills and governance to manage automated processes. The trend is moving toward intelligent automation and hyperautomation, combining AI, RPA, and advanced analytics to automate more complex workflows across organizations.
