Crosstechnology refers to an approach or field that emphasizes integration and interoperability across multiple technology domains to create hybrid systems, products, and services. It covers strategies, architectures, and practices that enable different technologies—such as information technology, electronics, biotechnology, materials science, and artificial intelligence—to work together. The aim is to facilitate cross-domain data exchange, cross-platform operation, and the co-design of components that span disparate tech ecosystems.

In practice, crosstechnology encompasses cross-domain standards, common data models, interoperable interfaces, and multi-technology product development. It appears in areas like smart manufacturing, healthcare devices with cloud and edge computing, automotive electronics that integrate sensing, connectivity, and AI, and energy systems that coordinate ICT with control hardware. Examples include cross-technology communication protocols that allow heterogeneous wireless devices to exchange data, digital twins that integrate physics simulations with sensors and ERP systems, and platform strategies that unify legacy systems with modern cloud services.

Challenges include lack of universal standards, security and privacy concerns, complexity of lifecycle management across domains, and governance. It is an emergent, umbrella concept rather than a discrete discipline, often used in industry strategy documents and research programs to describe interdisciplinarity and interoperability goals.
