CCviertaan is a fictional city created as a case study in urban design and policy analysis. It appears in academic exercises, planning simulations, and speculative literature to explore topics such as sustainable density, participatory governance, and resilient infrastructure. The project envisions CCviertaan as a compact, transit-oriented urban area with a strong emphasis on social equity, climate adaptation, and local energy generation. The name CCviertaan is often abbreviated CCV in teaching materials.

The concept originated in university design studios in the early 2020s as a collaborative exercise among architects, urban planners, and public policy researchers. It was designed to be intentionally adaptable, with core principles that can be tested across different hypothetical scenarios, climates, and policy regimes.

Geographically, CCviertaan is depicted as a multi-centered city arranged around a walkable core and a network of outdoor public spaces, canals or riverfronts, and interlaced green corridors. Buildings prioritize energy efficiency and mix residential, commercial, and civic uses. Water management, circular waste systems, and urban farming are integral components.

Governance in CCviertaan emphasizes citizen participation, open budgeting, and transparent data sharing. The economy centers on sustainable services, knowledge-based industries, and local cooperatives, with a focus on decarbonization and social inclusion. Public institutions are modeled to respond quickly to climate events and economic shifts.

Mobility is transit-oriented with extensive bus rapid transit, trams, bike lanes, and pedestrian networks. Car use is limited by congestion pricing and car-sharing. The city also experiments with autonomous transportation and smart street infrastructure.
