Belayer

A belayer is a climber who controls the rope for a partner during climbing, managing rope tension and arresting falls. The belayer stands on the ground (often beneath a climbing route) and uses a belay device attached to a harness, along with a brake hand, to regulate rope movement as the climber ascends or descends.
