BOPPFolien, short for biaxially oriented polypropylene film, are clear, stiff plastic films made from polypropylene resin by orienting the film in two perpendicular directions. The orientation process, often performed on tenter frames after extrusion, strengthens the film in both machine and cross directions, producing improved mechanical properties, optical clarity and barrier performance compared with unoriented PP film. Typical thickness ranges are about 12 to 40 micrometers, with thinner grades used for high-clarity packaging and thicker grades for labels and laminates.
