BIMmalleille
BIMmalleille is a software framework designed to increase the flexibility and adaptability of Building Information Models used in construction and architecture workflows. The tool was first released in 2024 by a consortium of European universities and two industry partners, with the goal of addressing limitations in current BIM standards that assume fixed geometries and data structures. BIMmalleille introduces a modular architecture in which building components are represented as parametric objects. Each object can be re‑defined by a user through a graphical interface or programmatic API, enabling rapid adaptation to design changes, retrofit scenarios, or evolving regulations.
The core of the framework is a set of open‑source libraries written in Python and C++ that
Adoption of BIMmalleille has been gradual. Many large engineering contractors use it for mid‑size commercial projects,
