These suits are generally made from buoyant, waterproof materials like neoprene or coated nylon. They are typically one-piece and fully enclosed, featuring integrated boots and often a hood. Many designs include a whistle and a light for signaling rescue services, as well as reflective tape for increased visibility. The insulation properties of the suit are crucial, as heat loss in water can rapidly lead to incapacitation.
