The vulva refers to the external female genitalia, while the vagina is the muscular canal connecting the vulva to the cervix.

The causes of vulvitisvaginitis are diverse and can include infections, irritants, and hormonal changes. Common infectious causes are bacterial vaginosis, yeast infections (candidiasis), and trichomoniasis. These infections can disrupt the natural balance of microorganisms in the vagina, leading to inflammation and discharge.
