Vodárna is a facility or set of facilities responsible for the extraction, treatment, storage, and distribution of potable water to a population. In Czech usage, the term typically denotes a municipal or regional waterworks that forms part of the public water supply system. A vodárna may comprise several components: abstraction or intake structures that withdraw water from surface water bodies or groundwater; water treatment facilities that remove contaminants and pathogens; storage reservoirs or water towers to ensure supply and regulate pressure; and a network of pumps and pipelines that deliver water to homes and institutions.
