Ungdomsboende is a term used in Sweden to describe housing specifically intended for young people in a transitional phase toward independent living. The concept covers temporary and longer-term accommodations and is often part of municipal housing policy or non-profit housing organizations.

Target groups typically include young people who have recently left their parental home, students, job entrants, and other individuals with limited access to ordinary rental housing. Eligibility is usually age-based, commonly within the late teens to late twenties, and may take into account income level, residency status, and the need for housing support. Some programs prioritize students, asylum seekers, or youths leaving care.

Housing and affordability vary. Rents are generally lower than the mainstream rental market and may be subsidized or regulated. Tenures can be short-term, for example during studies or job transitions, or longer-term depending on local arrangements. Many ungdomsboende offer shared facilities such as kitchens and common spaces, while others provide small self-contained units.

Administration and services are often handled by municipalities, housing associations, or charitable organizations. Beyond housing, residents may have access to guidance on budgeting, study or work support, and help securing permanent housing.

Challenges include high demand and regional differences in availability, leading to waiting lists and unequal access. Ungdomsboende is one component of broader social and housing policy aimed at promoting independence and reducing housing insecurity among young people.
