Tretrykking, or three-press printing, is a historical and contemporary printmaking technique in which a single image is created by applying three successive ink layers and impressions. It belongs to the family of relief and multi-color printing and is typically executed with a woodblock, linoleum, or metal plate as the matrix. The process relies on precise registration to align each color layer.

The Norweigian term tretrykking derives from "tre" meaning three and "trykking" meaning pressing or printing, reflecting the method's triple-impression approach. In practice, artists may use three separate blocks or a single multi-layered block with three distinct inkings to produce the final image.

The technique appeared in Nordic and European print studios and has been used from the late 19th century onward. It has seen periods of popularity and revival as artists seek rich, layered color with limited editions. Contemporary practitioners often explore variations that combine traditional relief with experimental inks and papers.

Technique details involve planning the color sequence and dividing the design into three channels. Each channel is prepared for a separate impression, with registration marks or a jig to ensure alignment. The printer inks the matrix for the first color, transfers it to paper, and allows it to dry. The second color is then applied with careful alignment, followed by the third color. The final result is a three-color image with distinct ink layers.

Materials commonly used include woodblocks or linoleum as matrices, and sometimes metal plates. Inks can be water-based or oil-based depending on the matrix and desired effect. Tools include brayers, a printing press or baren, and registration guides to maintain precise alignment.
