The role sits at the interface of business and IT, translating user needs into specifications that guide development, procurement, and transformation initiatives.

Key responsibilities include eliciting and documenting requirements from stakeholders, analyzing current systems and business processes, and identifying inefficiencies or risks. They model processes and data using techniques such as BPMN, UML, entity-relationship diagrams, and data flow diagrams. They evaluate potential solutions, conduct feasibility studies, and support vendor selection. In project execution, systemanalytikeren collaborates with business analysts, developers, testers, and architects; they write functional specifications, assist with system design, and validate delivered solutions through testing and user acceptance.

Skills and methods: strong analytical and communication abilities, domain knowledge in the relevant industry, proficiency with modeling tools, databases, and basic programming concepts. Familiarity with agile and traditional software development life cycles, and with governance, security, and data privacy considerations, is common. Certifications such as the IIBA's CBAP or PMI's PBA may be pursued, but not required.
