Suvehooajad is an Estonian term that refers to the summer period, the part of the year associated with warmth, long daylight and peak biological activity. In everyday language it commonly designates the months of June, July and August, but the exact boundaries can vary depending on climate, regional tradition and the context in which the term is used.

In meteorological and cultural contexts, summer can be defined in several ways. A typical calendar definition in temperate climates places meteorological summer from June 1 to August 31. Astronomical summer, centered on the solstice and the equinox, lasts roughly from June 21 to September 23. The Estonian term suvehooajad is primarily colloquial and its boundaries are often fluid, reflecting weather patterns and social practices rather than fixed dates.

Climatically, suvehooajad in Estonia and the Baltic region are characterized by milder to warm temperatures, relatively high humidity, and extensive daylight, especially in June and July. Daytime temperatures commonly range from around 15 to 25 degrees Celsius, with occasional heat waves pushing higher.
