Simulácie is the Slovak term for simulations, referring to techniques that imitate the operation of real systems over time by building a model that represents their structure and behavior. A simulation enables experimentation with a virtual version of a process, allowing analysis, prediction, and decision support without the risks or costs of real-world trials.

There are several forms of simulácie, including computer simulations that execute mathematical models on a processor, physical simulations using scale models, and purely mathematical simulations that analyze properties of abstractions. Different approaches are used depending on the questions asked and the nature of the system being studied.

Common approaches include discrete-event simulation, continuous simulation, Monte Carlo methods, and agent-based modeling. Each type serves different purposes: discrete-event simulation focuses on events in time and resource usage; continuous simulation models rates and flows; Monte Carlo methods explore uncertainty and variability; agent-based models capture interactions among autonomous entities.

Applications span science, engineering, economics, finance, healthcare, transportation, manufacturing, climate research, and education. In industry, simulations support design optimization, risk assessment, capacity planning, and training; in research, they test hypotheses, validate theories, and study complex systems. Simulácie also underpin decision support tools, policy analysis, and scenario planning in public and private sectors.

Advances in computing, data availability, and software tools have broadened simulácie, enabling data-driven, real-time, and AI-assisted modeling. Key concerns include model validation, verification, and uncertainty quantification to ensure results are credible and relevant.
