Råsensordata is the Swedish term for raw sensor data, referring to unprocessed measurements collected by sensors before processing, calibration, or aggregation. It serves as the foundational layer of data streams in fields such as environmental monitoring, Internet of Things, industrial automation, and wildlife research.

Råsensordata typically arrives as time-stamped records associated with a sensor identifier and often a geographic location. Common fields include timestamp, sensor_id, measurement_type, value, unit, and quality flags; location data may be included as latitude and longitude. Formats vary but CSV, JSON, or binary formats like Parquet are common, and data may be stored in streaming systems or time-series databases.

Processing and quality control: Raw data are usually subjected to preprocessing steps such as validation, deduplication, calibration correction, noise filtering, scaling, and synchronization of timestamps across sensors. Quality issues include missing values, sensor drift, outliers, and environmental interference. Proper provenance and versioning are important to enable reproducibility.

Applications: Raw sensor data enables transparent re-analysis, model training, and traceable calibration. Researchers and engineers may apply domain-specific transformations to produce derived metrics, while keeping the original raw values for auditability.

Standards and interoperability: Interoperability is promoted by standards such as SensorML and Observations and Measurements (O&M) within the OGC framework, and ISO 19156. Adhering to metadata schemes and FAIR data principles improves discoverability and reuse.

Governance and ethics: When sensors collect data in public or semi-public spaces, privacy and consent considerations apply; data lineage, licensing, and access controls are important.
