Rechtsverband is a German term used to denote an association or organization that promotes right-wing political views. The word combines rechts (right, on the political spectrum) with Verband (association or federation). In scholarly, journalistic, and public discourse, Rechtsverband is a generic label that can refer to a wide range of groups, from mainstream conservative or professional associations to nationalist or far-right organizations. The term itself does not specify a particular ideology beyond a position on the political spectrum, and it does not by itself indicate legal status.

The scope of what counts as a Rechtsverband varies by country and context. Some groups described as Rechtsverband pursue policy advocacy, cultural conservatism, or nationalist positions within the bounds of civil law. Others are identified by authorities as extremist or anti-democratic, especially when they advocate discrimination, violence, or the overthrow of constitutional order. Because of this diversity, the label may overlap with both legitimate civil society organizations and unlawful or banned groups, depending on their aims and activities.

Legal context and regulation differ by jurisdiction. In many countries, right-wing associations can be registered as voluntary associations or other lawful entities, provided they operate within the law. However, groups that pursue or incite extremist activities, commit hate crimes, or plan violence may be restricted, banned, or monitored by state authorities. In Germany and several other states, certain extremist rechtsverband-like formations are subject to bans or close surveillance under anti-extremism laws.
