pronaatio
Pronaatio is an anatomical term describing a rotational movement of a limb or body part toward a prone orientation. In common usage it refers mainly to two movements: forearm pronation and foot pronation. Forearm pronation is the internal rotation of the forearm that turns the palm downward or posteriorly when the elbow is flexed or the arm is extended. Foot pronation is a complex, triplanar motion combining dorsiflexion, eversion and abduction, causing the medial arch to lower and the sole to face more laterally during weight bearing.
Both forms of pronation have normal functional roles. Forearm pronation allows the hand to orient for tasks
Assessment is clinical and may include observation of gait, alignment tests, joint range-of-motion measurements and imaging
