Palletetiketten are labels attached to pallets to convey shipping, handling, and identification information across supply chains. They support the efficient tracking of pallets as they move between suppliers, warehouses, carriers, and customers, and they help ensure that the correct goods are loaded, transported, and received.

What is on a pallet label often includes a unique pallet identifier, sometimes corresponding to the SSCC (Serial Shipping Container Code) used in GS1 standards. Additional data frequently found on the label are the product identifiers (such as GTIN), quantities, batch or lot numbers, ship-to and ship-from details, purchase or order references, and sometimes the destination carrier or routing information. Depending on the application, the label may also display handling instructions, packing lists references, or date stamps.

Palletetiketten commonly use barcodes or QR codes and increasingly incorporate RFID where appropriate. The GS1-128 barcode format is commonly used because it can encode multiple data elements in a compact form. In international logistics, the label may be part of a broader GS1 system that supports interoperability between trading partners. For hazardous goods, separate hazard labeling and compliance marks remain necessary, in addition to the pallet label.

Placement and durability are important: labels are applied to a clean, visible area of the pallet, typically on the side, and are designed to withstand handling, temperature variation, and moisture. Materials and adhesives are chosen to suit the pallet type (wood, plastic) and the operating environment, with weatherproof or laminated labels used for outdoor use.

In practice, palletetiketten facilitate traceability and automation, integrating with warehouse management systems, transport documentation, and barcode or RFID scanning to improve accuracy and speed in receiving, dispatch, and inventory control.
